INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICS MASTER
PARTNERS AND SUPPORTERS
The IMM is a reality thanks to its partnerships with a number of organizations which share IMM’s ethos of intellectual freedom as a basis for development in any scientific field.
The following organizations have contributed to the growth and success of the IMM in various ways including financing single initiatives, higher education programmes and innovative research experiences.
ABDUS SALAM INTERNATIONAL CENTRE FOR THEORETICAL PHYSICS
ICTP is one of two primary partners of the IMM. The ICTP Visiting Scholars Programme and Affiliated Centre Programme provided scholarships for the six international students of IMM-PAKISTAN (four students from Nigeria and two from Algeria). ICTP also funded two recent IMM-PAKISTAN students to attend the ICTP School and Workshop in Dynamical Systems, in Trieste.
EUROPEAN MATHEMATICAL SOCIETY
EMS Commission for Developing Countries (EMS-CDC) awarded LUMS the prestigious label of Emerging Regional Centre of Excellence (ERCE), following the move there of the IMM-PAKISTAN. The award underlines the importance of the institution’s role in the development of mathematics in the country and region.
INNOVATIONS IN DEVELOPMENT, EDUCATION AND THE MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES (IDEMS)
IDEMS is an International Community Interest Company which collaborates with innovative expert researchers and local communities around the world to develop pioneering digital interventions and infrastructure designed to work in – and scale across – low-resource contexts for responsible, sustainable global impact. IDEMS has worked with and supported IMM through its expertise in learning, teaching, and education systems, in particular the Moodle platform and the STACK online learning and evaluation technology.
INTERNATIONAL CENTRE FOR MATHEMATICAL SCIENCES
ICMS in Edinburgh has recently established an inspiring and ambitious Mathematics for Humanity programme which supports a number of mathematics activities with a special focus on developing countries. ICMS supported IMM-PAKISTAN students to participate in a CIMPA School on Applied Number Theory in Vietnam and discussions are in progress for more substantial forms of collaboration.
INTERNATIONAL MATHEMATICAL UNION
IMU is the most important global organization promoting international cooperation and activities in mathematical sciences. IMU Commission for Developing Countries (IMU-CDC) offers programmes which sponsor and support projects that develop mathematics research, worldwide. One such initiative is the Visiting Lecturer Programme which funded visits for some of the international faculty delivering the IMM in Pakistan.
CENTRE INTERNATIONAL DE MATHÉMATIQUE PURES E APPLIQUÉES
CIMPA is a French governmental organization focussed on promoting mathematics in developing countries. It has sponsored several international faculty visits to Pakistan and has pledged to continue its support for the IMM in both Pakistan and Algeria.
LONDON MATHEMATICAL LABORATORY
LML is a private foundation which supports worldwide initiatives in Mathematics and its applications - particularly in the field of Ergodicity Economics [link]. It is the second primary partner of the IMM and its main financial contributor. LML has also been a vital source of support in the transition of IMM-PAKISTAN from COMSATS to LUMS as the country’s host institution.
