Matteo Fiacchi

I got my PhD in Mathematics in 2020 at University Roma Tor Vergata under the supervision of Prof. F. Bracci with the thesis “Geometry of domains in C^d and applications to dynamics". After a period in University of Bologna, I am now a postdoc at University of Pisa.

How would you define your field of study? What is your vision about it? Which are the topics you're most passionate about?

I work in complex analysis, in particular I study the geometry and dynamics of domains in the complex euclidean space. I like this part of mathematics because I am fascinated by the strong relationship between the geometric and analytical aspects of holomorphic functions.

How do you expect your experience in IMM to be? Why did you accept to teach for this project?

Teaching plays an essential role in the life of a mathematician. Moreover, I think that scientific knowledge is an universal common good. For these reasons, I strongly support the mission of IMM.

Do you have one of two favorite quotes you would like to share and/or a personal "motto"?

“Mathematics knows no races or geographic boundaries; for mathematics, the cultural world is one country” D. Hilbert.
