ABOUT ME

Educational Background and Interest in Mathematics:

Before joining IMM, I completed my undergraduate studies at two different universities. For the first two years, I studied at the University of Gujrat, and for the final two years, I attended Government College University Lahore. My interest in mathematics developed early on, as I was always good at it and learned concepts quickly. One day, a teacher suggested that I should choose mathematics as my career. Since proper career counseling is not very common in Pakistan, I decided to follow his advice. This decision ultimately led me to pursue advanced studies in mathematics and eventually join IMM.

MORE INFORMATION

Discovery of IMM:

My story is a bit unique. One day, I was scrolling through Facebook while applying for different jobs, and I sent my CV to various places. I came across a post about IMM but didn't think much about it at the time, as I didn't know what IMM was or that it even existed in Pakistan. I applied without giving it much thought and simply sent my CV. When I received a response from Stefano, I realized I had applied for a master's program, not a job. I was invited for an interview, and the first one didn't go well as I wasn't very confident in my English. I thought that was the end of it, but to my surprise, I passed the first interview. The second interview with the international faculty went much better, and I was selected. That's my story. IMM is the best accidental thing that happened to me; it opened up a whole new world for me.

IMM Experience:

I'm a Batch 4 student at IMM. I had the opportunity to learn from some of the best international professors who taught me mathematics in a completely different way. I discovered that mathematics is not just a subject but a language. All the teachers were humble, down-to-earth, friendly, and incredibly supportive. I also learned a lot about professionalism. From long, tiring lectures to fun dinners, we had so much fun and learned a lot in a whole new way. This program broadened my horizons, and now I'm part of a strong mathematics community.

Professional Goals:

My long-term professional goal is to work in the education sector in Pakistan to educate more women, especially from small towns like mine, about the importance of education.

Key Accomplishments:

There are a few things I'm particularly proud of. I was the first and only female in my family and town to go outside the city for higher education, which was a big step for me. I also managed to get an administrative position in college, which felt like a huge achievement. Getting admitted to IMM and then the Erasmus Mundus Joint Master's Program were also significant milestones. Even though I never topped in anything and most of my IMM fellows are gold medalists, I take pride in my networking skills. I'm proud that, despite not being an extraordinary student, I've been able to make great connections and build strong relationships.
