ABOUT ME
Educational Background
Born in Algeria, I graduated from Ecole Polytechnique, France, in 1990 and obtained a PhD in mathematics from Rutgers University, USA, in 1996. I joined the mathematics department of Universite Paris Sud 11 in 1997 and became full professor in control theory in 2004 at the physics department of Universite Paris Sud 11 and then Universite Paris Saclay in 2020.
I was CIMPA scientific officer from 2017 to 2023. I also joined the AIMS South Africa Council in November 2024.

Interests
My work focuses on geometric and optimal control with an emphasis on sliding and switvhing systems, and also on stabilisation of hyperbolic systems.

- Member of the LSS laboratory council from 09/2004 to 09/2009
- President of the CCSU section 61 of the Université de Paris Sud between 05/2007 and 05/2010
- Member of the LMFM Laboratoire de mathématiques franco-maghrébin council
- Member of the steering committee of the STIC department of the Université Paris-Saclay, which oversees all the new university's research activities in the field of STIC

Organisation of interviews, worshops and seminars
- CIMPA School, Geometric, stochastic and partial differential equation control, Tlemcen, Algeria 12-23/04/2014
- Co-principal organiser (with SM Bouguima). This school brought together 60 participants with high-level lectures given by J. Jacod, N. El-Karoui, J.M. Coron and E., among others. Zuazua.
- Quarter Institut Henri Poincaré, Geometry, Analysis and Dynamics on sub-Riemannian varieties, 1/09. -12/12/2014, Paris. Co-organiser of this event, which welcomed a total of nearly 200 researchers and students. It was undoubtedly the most important meeting in the field in the last twenty years.
