Arooj Jamil

I am Arooj Jamil. I completed my MS under the IMM program. It has been an amazing experience. I learned very good mathematics in those two years. The international professors were very kind and cooperative. At first, it was very difficult for me to understand these advanced terms and new ways of learning mathematics but after some time it became very interesting as this program mainly focuses on the course work so it helps to understand the concepts of mathematics. In addition to learning mathematics, I have the great experience of spending time with some of the great international professors. On several occasions, we went to dinner with them. We enjoyed the moments in and out of the classroom. The faculty members are very friendly and cooperative. They are always there to help students with different issues. It was a great time. I am very grateful to Prof. Stefano Luzzatto and Dr. Sarfraz Ahmed for creating this wonderful program in our Pakistan. This is a great opportunity for all students who want to learn mathematics in a good environment without any financial fear.

I am currently studying for a one-year postgraduate diploma program at the Abdul Salam International Center for Theoretical Physics (ICTP), Italy. IMM made my admission possible in Italy. I have been selected for a fully-funded program in Italy. This is a great opportunity for me to learn mathematics in a more advanced way. This is a great achievement for me and my family. At first, I was very happy and excited but also very scared to go to another country. As I said before, the international faculty is very friendly and cooperative. Professor Stefano and Professor Douglas Coates guided me and shed light on some different aspects of life abroad. I also got in touch with some senior students who were studying there. They also gave me guidance on studying, living abroad and other issues including travel, food, etc. and I think this is a very positive point. It is very difficult for a girl to go abroad alone. I thank my family who supported me. This is a great opportunity to see and understand life and mathematics in a new way.

Lastly, I believe that this program and place are ideal for learning mathematics. This is a great platform for you if you want to study abroad. I encourage students to join this program. I am very happy to be a part of this program.
