My interest in mathematics developed from my high school. I completed my bachelors from a college in 2017, followed by “Master of Science in Mathematics” with a distinction from Government College University (GCU) Lahore in 2019. After that, I got admission the IMM Program here at COMSATS University Lahore. I completed my IMM Masters in 2021, then went to France for M1 in Mathematics at University of Lille. I came back to Pakistan in 2022 and Started my PhD here in Pakistan at Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS), Lahore Pakistan.
My Relation with IMM
I joined IMM as a student of the very first batch in 2019. I successfully graduated in the year 2021 with the highest cgpa among my batch. I am also serving as IMM Website Manager since july 2022.
My Experience of IMM as a Student
I had an incredible experience throughout my MS. First of all, I had interacted with the international faculty for the first time and was taught by them. This has helped me with my language barrier and improved my communication abilities. After this experience, I have become more confident and vigilant. They had taught us in very effective manners and introduced us to the new methods of learning Mathematics. They used to arrange different tutorial sessions for each subject, in which we solved exercises together and they also explained the real-life applications of the different mathematical phenomena. Such a method of learning was totally different and new to me so far in my educational career and my brain synchronized with it very well. I am very much impressed by my respected Professor Stefano Luzzato who is very dedicated to this program and I admire his great efforts to open opportunities for Mathematics Students and promote mathematics in developing countries like Pakistan. These opportunities are fully-funded which also encourages disadvantaged brilliant students. IMM organizing team also organize seminars and conferences on significant problem-solving techniques frequently. The most important aspect is that they are a very student-centered team as is evident from our time management issue which was reported to them and they responded immediately. Moreover, they solved the issues by arranging zoom meetings to listen to our concerns. One more thing I would like to add to my experience is that they helped the students not only during the program but also help in pursuing studies in the future.
How IMM helped or helping me in my career
Combining all above facets, IMM is the main reason for "Where I am Today". I have been selected in a full-funded program in France for my next degree. I studied at the University of Lille, France for the year 2021-2022. It was a very nice experience and the quality of education was very good there. My past interaction with international faculty during the IMM program has enabled me to adapt to a new academic environment and learning methods. I was not very well versed in the French language but I tried to learn the language. Living in France was quite comfortable because of the advanced facilities and good academic environment. University has not only a big common library for all students but also the mathematics department has a personal library that offers many facilities to their students.
After spending one year in France, I came back to Pakistan and started my PhD studies here. I got admission in a fully funded PhD Program at Lahore University of Management Science (LUMS), Pakistan. The intense course work studied in IMM Program and reference letters from the faculty of IMM program helped me in gaining this position.
I am very obliged to IMM and its team which has enabled me to fulfill my dream. I am hopeful that the dreams of other students like me will be fulfilled with the help of IMM.
