Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering
The International Mathematics Master (IMM-PAKISTAN) is a premium graduate programme in mathematics with the mission to train talented and gifted minds in Pakistan and the wider region.
IMM-PAKISTAN is housed at the Syed Babar Ali School of Science and Engineering (SBASSE), at the Lahore University of Management Sciences (LUMS). The school is amongst the top universities in Pakistan and in the top 50 of the Times Higher Education list of small universities worldwide. As well as hosting the IMM, the mathematics department is involved in a highly successful nationwide programme of “Math Circles” to promote creative thinking amongst school-age students.
In recognition of the department’s ongoing endeavours, including hosting the IMM, the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics (ICTP) has awarded the mathematical department at LUMS the status of ICTP Affiliated Centre. Additionally, the European Mathematical Society (EMS) has awarded LUMS, the status of Emerging Regional Centre of Excellence (ERCE).
As an ICTP Affiliated Centre and ERCE, the department has been organizing various activities to create opportunities for national and international collaborations between students and researchers.

WORLD-CLASS FACULTY
The IMM is taught by pre-eminent mathematicians from around the globe alongside LUMS faculty. Leading mathematics experts teach courses and co-supervise Masters’ theses and bring diverse perspectives, extensive knowledge and teaching methodologies to benefit students. The IMM has developed a unique, innovative and sustainable teaching model based on the collaboration between international and local faculty to optimize the students’ experience.
VIEW FACULTYWorld-class academic programme
The IMM-PAKISTAN is a premium Master’s programme, equivalent to Master’s programmes around the world. It consists of a number of core courses followed by a Master’s thesis supervised by international faculty. The IMM academic programme is focussed on fundamental mathematics. Its purpose is to consolidate the foundations of core subjects which underpin all research areas in mathematics and applications, including data science, machine learning, engineering and biomedical sciences.
The programme emphasizes strengthening students' mathematical foundation to develop the necessary critical thinking and problem-solving abilities to excel in their future research careers.
VIEW PROGRAMMEWorld-class students
The selection process is highly competitive and only the best students in the country and region are admitted to the programme. To enable IMM students to fully focus on their studies, they receive a substantial support package including travel expenses, quality accommodation and a full scholarship. Students also receive guidance on applying for further post-graduate studies abroad, and many IMM-PAKISTAN alumni have already secured full scholarships for PhDs in Europe and the US.

Overview
The private and secure campus is located in the south-east of Lahore with excellent transport links and infrastructure. The buildings have been consciously modelled along the lines of the world’s top research schools with beautiful grounds and state-of-the-art classroom and social facilities.
